Lady Glacia Rysleire

Born in Firsthold, Summerset to a wealthy aristocratic family, Glacia was educated and trained to be the perfect Altmer noble. At age 15, her family held a cotillion ball for her to announce her readiness for marriage. The match that was made was very suitable: Count Terilite, a powerful nobleman was taken by her, and she agreed to be married to him. Shortly thereafter, problems in the Count’s holdings in Valenwood forced him to leave his fiancee, and they did not see each other again for three years.

 

During that time, she occasionally attended the balls and other social events of the girls of her class, but mostly avoided them, preferring to stay at home and read and be with her best friend, Thrandra, one of her family’s housekeepers. Still, it was at one of these balls that her fortunes changed.

 

At the Library Ball for Lady Venevria, Glacia noticed an Argonian asking another young lady to dance. The girl rebuffed him, and Glacia introduced herself, partly out of kindness, partly out of fascination to speak with so exotic a creature. Thus, she met Reeds Saloat, bookseller of Ald Raathim, in Firsthold with Loranna’s entourage, to meet with Morgiah, Queen of Firsthold.

 

Glacia and Reeds met and danced there and at Princess Rinalla’s cotillion the next night. There, Count Terilite reappeared, and declared that preparations for their wedding could begin again. Glacia, after her conversations with Reeds, found that she could not let herself live such a life, and with the help of Thrandra, ran away from home.

 

Count Terilite and Lord and Lady Rysleire searched for Glacia, as did Reeds and a collection of heroes he brought with him from Ald Raathim. They found that Glacia was living with a group of fishermen in the riparian village of Bourrill, half a day’s sail from Firsthold. Together with Thrandra, they returned to Ald Raathim and a new life.

 

Glacia did not think she was prepared for any sort of a life, but Loranna found her education well-suited for the role of diplomatic adjunct and envoy, taking some of the social responsibilities the Duchess could not perform at nearly 8 months pregnant. She has taken to this with great enthusiasm and some success, during the last year and Loranna's two pregnancies.

 

She lives with Reeds in his bookshop, and though he has expressed romantic interest in her, she does not feel the same for him, though she is grateful to him for saving her life, in all senses of the word.
